Dr. Fandy Tjiptono is an Associate Professor at the School of Marketing and International Business, Victoria University of Wellington (VUW). He holds a Ph.D in Marketing from the University of New South Wales (Australia). He completed his Master of Commerce (MCom) in marketing at the University of New South Wales (Australia) and Bachelor of Economics in management from Universitas Gadjah Mada (Indonesia).Before joining VUW, he worked at Monash University Malaysia and Universitas Atma Jaya Yogyakarta (Indonesia). He has more than 25 years of marketing teaching experience at both undergraduate and graduate levels at several universities in Indonesia, Australia, Malaysia, and New Zealand.His main research interest is consumer behavior, marketing practices, and business strategies in emerging markets. The specific areas include brand longevity and brand management, consumer ethics and religiousness, responsible/sustainable consumption, the nexus of marketing, technology, and entrepreneurship, and social issues in business (e.g., autism in the workplace). His work has been published in respected journals in marketing including European Journal of Marketing, Journal of Business Ethics, Psychology & Marketing, Journal of Retailing and Consumer Services, Marketing Intelligence and Planning, International Journal of Consumer Studies, Internet Research, Journal of Travel & Tourism Marketing, International Journal of Contemporary Hospitality Management, Journal of Cleaner Production, Journal of Business Venturing Insights, Behaviour & Information Technology, and Asia Pacific Journal of Marketing and Logistics. He has also published several best-selling marketing and management textbooks and reference books in Bahasa Indonesia, some have been widely adopted and cited in Indonesia.His more than 12 years of consulting experience covers a wide range of industries, such as FMCG, publishing, telecommunication, and banking. During his academic career, he has served in various leadership and administrative roles at the university, faculty and department levels.
